Winter/Spring 2026 Classes – Now Enrolling

Color & Light: A Four-Day Painting Retreat
Learn to create light, depth, and atmosphere in your painting.
February 23 – 26, 2026
Monday–Thursday, 11 am – 3 pm
Small Group Workshop. Ideal for Advanced Beginners +
Tuition: $640 (includes a light lunch daily)
What makes a painting feel as if it is lit from within?
In this four-day retreat, we’ll explore how painters create the sensation of light through observation, layering, and the relationships that allow color to glow and space to open. Each day introduces a different focus, supported by brief demonstrations, visual references, and generous stretches of painting time.
Working in a small, supportive studio environment, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your work throughout the week while gaining a deeper understanding of how value and color relationships, temperature shifts, brush handling, transparency, and paint mixtures shape the sensation of light in a painting. Students may leave supplies set up in the studio, to allow for ease and a more immersive creative flow.
This retreat offers a calm, focused environment where you can slow down, explore, and connect with the pleasure of painting.
Limited to four participants.
Suggested prerequisite: Language of Painting Level 1 or equivalent experience.
Please email ekundell@gmail.com with any questions and to register for this immersive studio experience.
