Exploring Abstraction, Part 1
A One-Day Painting Retreat

Saturday, April 20, 10am – 4pm
$280 (includes a light lunch)
Supply list provided or classroom supplies available for $50.

There are many ways to look at and communicate through abstraction. In this one-day painting retreat, we will begin to explore different modes of abstraction with plenty of hands on painting. We will cover brush handling, some color mixing and the body as a center point for nonverbal expression and movement.

Paint Lab

Paint Lab was developed to help students pursue their heart’s desires in painting, in an inspiring and supportive environment.

The setting is purposely in a small group format for individualized guidance. Students develop their own projects as we explore topics including:

– Color & mood
– Expressive and technical aspects of paint-handling and color-mixing
– Integrating drawing and painting
– Investigating composition
– Various forms of abstraction
– Developing a personal painting practice

Tuesdays, 2-5pm • Thursdays, 1-4 pm
Paint Lab is ongoing and enrolls monthly.

Beginning Painting!

Saturday, May 18, 11am – 2pm
$80. Supply list or classroom supplies available for $25.

Have you always wanted to learn to paint, but you don’t quite know where to begin? Or are you feeling rusty and need support in reigniting your painting practice?
This class is for you!

Reconnect with your creative impulses as we explore the joys of painting! This is an accessible 3-hour workshop for beginners or for those who feel like one.
Students will have plenty of hands-on painting time in beautiful, well-lit studio A-1.

Create Your Personal Color Palette

In this exciting, fun class for adults, we explore the interdependent nature of color and its ability to evoke mood and emotion.

– Gain confidence in color mixing
– Learn how to express mood through color
– Use your tools with greater self-expression
– Deepen your understanding of painting

In the early days of the pandemic, Spring and Summer of 2020, we gathered online for creative nourishment, community and co-working time. All sessions began with improvisational play in a variety of media and topics, from poetry and paint to performance.
